Job Description

To assist library staff with the daily functions of the Proctor Library for 12 hours/week and to provide courteous, prompt, efficient, and professional service to all students, faculty, and staff of Flagler College

Responsibilities

Responsible for staffing the Library's circulation desk independently and help patrons in need of assistance in a friendly and professional manner.Help to keep the Library's collections in order and accessible to patrons by shelving books and performing shelf maintenance tasks such as shelf reading and inventory.Participate in the College's "Everything Speaks" initiative by assisting Library staff in keeping public spaces looking neat and orderly.Assist with maintaining and updating the Library's loaning laptop computers.Provide students with research and citation assistance.Assist students with troubleshooting printer or computer issues.Assist with maintaining and updating electronic reserve items, including laptops.Help to close the building in the evening as directed by the Circulation Specialist or Access Services Librarian.Perform other library-related duties as may be required by the Director of Library Services.

Additional Responsibilities:Assist Library staff with administrative projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Students must be able to complete tasks in an orderly fashion and be prompt and energetic when working at the Library.Knowledge of the Library of Congress Classification System is not required to obtain this position, but it is imperative that this skill be learned once hired.Prior library experience preferred; strong customer service skills and full knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.Physical Restrictions:Frequently lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs.Frequently pulling, pushing, reaching overhead, kneeling, stooping, bending at the waistAvailable Hours:Sunday - Thursday, 9:00 p.m. - midnight
