***AUCTION HOUSE EXPERIENCE PREFERRED***
An auction house with offices around the world is adding a Consignment Director with a specialization in Music to their Entertainment category to be located in their Beverly Hills, CA office. The area of focus for this position is the golden age of rock and roll, including, but not limited to, vintage guitars. Ideally, we are seeking someone with relationships within the music industry who can source material for auction. The successful candidate is an outgoing, self-motivated go-getter who will be responsible for evaluating property, acquiring consignments, building relationships, generating and responding to leads, and participating with catalog production and sales processes. Prior auction house experience preferred but not required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluate property and establish auction estimates Acquire consignments from the Music industry professionals and performers Research, evaluate and authenticate, and catalog property Proof catalog text and images, press releases, consignment and bidding emails, and advertising copy Market lots in auctions to appropriate clientele Contribute to the expansion of the house's client database Answer inquiries before, during, and after the auction from consignors and potential buyers Travel as needed to meet with clients and review the property for potential consignment Actively participate in auctions Other duties may be assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 8+ years of experience in the music industry, especially high-end guitars Proven expertise in valuing music-related items, and working with music industry professionals and talent Possesses an existing network of clients, collectors, and music industry professionals Strong negotiation and sales skills, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing catalog entries and marketing copy Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines Passion for music history and collectibles, coupled with a dedication to providing top-tier client service
