Job description

Gubelin Gem Lab, founded nearly a century ago, specializes in the analysis of gemstones for the jewelry trade. Our New York lab is looking to add a member to our team to assist with product photography, Adobe Suite editing, and additional administrative tasks.

Tasks:

  1. Editing text in our premium individual gemstone books
  2. Shooting gemstone and jewelry images with continuous lighting
  3. Editing photos with Photoshop and preparing for use in InDesign
  4. Editing InDesign files, updating text and data to match requirements
  5. Shooting and editing video of still life and for content creation

The ideal candidate has a strong command of written English, some experience with still life photography, and photo editing in Photoshop. They should also have some experience using InDesign and/or similar publishing programs.

This role involves photographing gemstones for our internal use and for client books, as well as working to help publish one-of-a-kind custom tailored books related to gems. It will also involve administrative tasks in support of general business operations.

Qualifications

Experience:

  1. Excellent understanding of written English and grammar
  2. 1+ years of still life and product photography experience
  3. Knowledge of product photography, lighting setups using strobes, as well as continuous lighting
  4. Excellent eye for color

Pluses:

  1. An interest in gemstones and jewelry - with or without experience in the field
  2. Administrative experience having worked in an office environment
  3. Experience with content creation
