Course Descriptions:
ANM-100 - Animation History (75 minutes - two sessions per week): This is a survey course of Western and Non-Western animation in which students will research the evolution of animation and its role in storytelling and communication, through the lenses of art, technology, business and culture. Students will be exposed to and critically engage with animations created by a diverse group of animators, and will consider the conceptual, social, economic and cultural influences in the development of animation.

The course includes advanced exercises in overlapping action, secondary motion, and dynamic posing to push the believability and appeal of animated sequences. Students will also explore workflows for rough animation, clean-up, and compositing using industry-standard tools such as Toon Boom Harmony and Adobe Animate.
