The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Creative Arts/Music and Education Director at the Fredericksburg, VA Corps.

About this opportunity:

Under the general supervision of the Officer, the incumbent is responsible for the spiritual outreach to the children and families enrolled in the youth music and character-building programs and incorporating these families into the spiritual life of the Corps with an emphasis on Sunday morning worship services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develops, communicates, facilitates, monitors and revises a variety of music and religious educational activities and programs.
  • Ensures all operations are following The Salvation Army philosophy and policy, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provides Christian leadership to youth in order to encourage their spiritual and religious development.
  • Recruits and enrolls children, as well as ensures the recruiting and managing of volunteers.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Education, Fine Arts or other related field
  • Six months experience teaching school-aged children and performing music and fine arts activities with school-aged children.
  • Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with weather or discomforts associated with noise, dirt, and the like. Position is predominately afternoon/evening and weekend work hours, as well as required overnight traveling.
