Sunshine Hall Free Library (Eldred, NY), nestled in picturesque Sullivan County, is seeking a library director. We serve a population of 4,449 residents as well as numerous summer visitors. Our library is a friendly place to work, surrounded by the area’s natural beauty, and is the heart of our community.

As a welcoming space and resource center, we offer free access to educational materials, promote literacy, and foster lifelong learning.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise and motivate a small team of employees and volunteers.
2. Collaborate effectively with library board members, Ramapo Catskill Library System, and the public.
3. Uphold library policies with professionalism and courtesy.

Qualifications

1. A minimum of two years of college is required.
2. Computer knowledge, experience with internet browsing and word processing software.
3. Ability to quickly master new technologies.
4. Desire to learn new skills and interest in ongoing professional development.
5. Previous experience working in a library or writing grants is advantageous.

The Director works Tuesday through Saturday, totaling 30 hours per week. Attendance at the monthly evening board meetings is mandatory. The starting salary is $22 per hour, and benefits include two weeks of vacation/sick pay and paid holidays.
