Position Summary

The Electrical Systems Designer I will be responsible for supervised design and documentation of the electrical and controls portion of electro-mechanical positioning systems

Essential Functions

Prepares electrical drawings of components and assemblies from notes, verbal instructions, and rough or detailed sketches, using a computer-aided design program

Prepares production documentation of electrical portion of systems, including Bills of Materials and assembly instructions

Makes engineering computations, assists in the documentation of system electrical and controls specifications

Works closely with other departments during all phases of the design and manufacturing process to ensure project success

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic ability to read and understand electrical writing and controls drawings and schematics

Experience with CAD software (AutoCad preferred) to create and modify electrical wiring, schematic and system interconnect drawings

Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

Problem solving abilities

Basic computer skills, including but not limited to, Microsoft operating systems, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

Basic organizational skills and multitasking abilities in order to meet daily, weekly, monthly and annual deadlines

Self-directed, self-starter

Ability to work as an individual contributor and team player

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training as an Electronic Technician or performing electrical drafting or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Experience with motion control hardware/software, compliance to electrical and safety standards a plus

Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

Work is generally performed in an office environment

May be required to sit for extended periods of time

The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
