Job Overview:
The role is for Associate Piping Designer with responsibility for plant layout and piping design for Onshore Oil & Gas, LNG, and Renewables Industry projects. The work includes conceptual studies, FEEDs, estimates, detail design, and construction support.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Work under the supervision of designers and engineers in the production of basic piping design deliverables
Utilize 3D modeling software tools to model piping items
Generate bulk material take offs for piping materials
Prepare and update piping drawings
Identify potential changes
Provide administrative support to the piping lead
Assist in the preparation of detailed drawings and deliverables of high technical quality and consistent presentation, ensuring clarity and constructability
Gain experience in the following work areas:
Design
2D drafting
3D drafting and model creation
Develop basic technical skills to complete assigned work
Principal/ Senior Designer appraised of all activities, progress and concerns
Become fully familiar with the Project Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements
Assist in developing Plant Design and 3D Modelling and discipline under the close supervision of a senior designer
Use communication skills to exchange ideas and information effectively
Apply basic analytical skills and operational procedures to perform straightforward activities
Use standard operating procedures to guide own work and solve standard problems
Reports to:
Project: Lead Piping Designer
Functional: Department Manager
Liaise With: Designers and Engineers
Essential Qualifications and Education:
High School Diploma – Some college or associate degree preferred
Basic understanding of CADD systems and drafting processes
Effective communication skills and professional ethics
Ability to learn and maintain design within our company methods and procedures
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
Some college or associates degree preferred
Drafting software knowledge (Autocad, Microstation, etc.)
Modeling software knowledge (S3D, E3D, etc.)
Piping design experience in modeling and drafting
High School graduate with a diploma in Mechanical Design or Drafting in a related discipline or equivalent experience
Entry level to less than 3 years drafting and/or design
Detailed knowledge of 2D CAD and /or other drafting software
Proactive and willing to learn
Flexible for business traveling/assignments
