Role Summary
The primary mission of the
Director Marketing
is to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives profitable sales growth in the North American region. This role combines strategic market assessment, opportunity sizing, product lifecycle management, digital marketing leadership, and sales enablement to accelerate growth in existing markets while identifying and capturing new opportunities. The Director Marketing partners with sales, global marketing, and finance teams to align strategies with regional goals and provide actionable guidance for sales teams to succeed.
As a Marketing Director for Beauty, North America You Will Provide:
Strategic Market Leadership Define and implement a five-year regional growth strategy based on market trends, value pool assessments, and customer needs. Identify and prioritize market opportunities using detailed segmentation, sizing of value pools, and "where to play" analysis. Lead market intelligence efforts to evaluate emerging trends and competitive dynamics, ensuring strategies are agile and data-driven. Anticipate emerging trends and categories, developing regional market entry strategies in partnership with global teams. Digital Marketing and Communications
Own and lead the regional digital marketing strategy to strengthen the brand, effectively communicate value propositions, and drive engagement with target audiences. Develop and manage digital channels (web, social media, email) to optimize customer outreach and lead generation. Create and implement data-driven campaigns, leveraging insights from market analysis and customer interactions. Partner with global teams to align digital initiatives and ensure consistency in brand messaging and customer experience. Drive innovation in digital content, tools, and platforms to create new pathways for market penetration and growth. Product and Portfolio Management
Own the regional product portfolio strategy, including product lifecycle management, stock product development, and line extensions. Collaborate with R&D, innovation, and finance teams to create 5-year business plans for product investments and profitability. Partner with global marketing to influence next-generation product development and ensure alignment with regional needs. Sales Enablement and Commercial Guidance
Develop and deliver sales attack plans, including opportunity sizing, prioritization frameworks, and playbooks for customer interactions. Provide actionable insights and tools to the sales organization, including customer-specific strategies, pricing guidance, and promotional assets. Support sales team training and development, ensuring alignment on market priorities and key product opportunities. Build marketing materials and content that resonate with customer needs and drive lead generation. Go-to-Market Excellence
Lead commercialization plans for new products, including launch strategies, pricing frameworks, and promotional campaigns. Support sales efforts by creating compelling customer-facing presentations and ensuring consistent messaging across the region. Manage competitive intelligence gathering and market database analysis (e.g., AMIT) to identify trends and risks. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, R&D, Supply Chain, and Finance) to align marketing initiatives with operational capabilities. Serve as the regional voice in global forums, providing market insights to influence Aptar's long-term product strategy. Authority and Scope
Full ownership of regional portfolio strategy, pricing strategy, product positioning, and digital marketing efforts. Responsibility for pipeline planning (1-3 years) and five-year strategic plans in collaboration with regional president and key stakeholders. Authority to guide customer-specific initiatives and drive new business growth in priority markets and applications. Who We are Looking For
Education
Bachelor's degree, in Business, Marketing, or related fields (MBA preferred) Experience Level
15+ years in marketing and business leadership roles. Proven success in developing regional market strategies, product portfolio management, and opportunity sizing. Experience leading cross-functional and multicultural teams; matrix organization experience is essential. Strong track record in managing digital marketing initiatives and platforms. Packaging or beauty industry experience is preferred. Skills
Expertise in digital marketing tools, platforms, and campaign management. Strong ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution of marketing initiatives. Expertise in market analysis, value pool assessments, and opportunity sizing. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including managing direct and remote teams. Proficiency with data analysis tools, competitive intelligence platforms, and ERP systems (SAP experience preferred). Location and Travel Requirements
Preferred locations are Cary, IL (Chicago area) or Eatontown, NJ / Trumbull, CT (NYC area). Hybrid work arrangement, however, 3-4 days per week to be spent with teams on site or in the market traveling for customer meetings. In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $178,000 - $220,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
