Purpose of the Position:
The Lead Data Architecture Designer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s data architecture. The role plays a critical role in migrating legacy systems to a modern technology stack, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility. The role works closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient data solutions. The role reports to the Director of Enterprise Data Architecture.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Data Architecture Design and Implementation : Oversee data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
Migrate Legacy Systems:
Transition from SQL Server-based data pipelines to Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Power BI.
Develop Data Integration Solutions:
Create workflows and pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
Support Advanced Analytics : Design and implement data solutions for business intelligence and advanced analytics.
Ensure Data Quality and Security : Collaborate with the data governance team to maintain data quality, consistency, and security.
Collaborate with Stakeholders : Understand and meet data requirements of business stakeholders.
Optimize Data Processes : Work with the data engineering team to enhance data processing, storage, and retrieval for better performance and scalability.
Provide Technical Leadership : Offer guidance and mentorship to the data team.
Perform other duties as assigned .

Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
5+ years’ experience as a data solutions architect, or related role.
Data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, SQL Server and PowerBI.
Databricks solution development including Delta Live Tables in near-real time use cases.
Certification in Databricks, Azure, or related.
Skills – legacy SQL server-based systems, problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration.
Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Preferred Requirements:
Any advanced degree or equivalent experience, especially in computer science, IT, or a related field.
Strong or advanced proficiency in any of the above required skills/experience.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
Other skills or abilities – experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies, knowledge of governance and compliance standards, and/or experience with educational data systems.
Compliance:
Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable state laws and rules, federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and internal policies and procedures.
Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

This is a full-time remote position.
Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
