Position Summary

The Director of Marketing develops, drives, and executes marketing initiatives and plans designed to support the Company's sales goals and strategies. In collaboration with the Marketing, Vendor Management, Pricing, and Sales teams develops product programs, internal and external communications, and sales and promotion tools relevant to customer and vendor needs, including eCommerce, design, advertising, partnership maintenance and support, product commercialization and promotional efforts. This position ensures product assortment and marketing distribution changes align with overall strategic objectives and is responsible for designing, evaluating, improving, and scaling strategies to gain market share, increase revenue, enhance online presence, and strengthen brand position. Responsible for driving marketing strategies across multiple channels and multiple brands consistent with the Company's value proposition.

Essential Job Function

1. Develops and implements strategic marketing plans; analyzes, identifies, and capitalizes on opportunities needed to drive HVAC/R sales through multiple eCommerce channels, digital marketing strategies and a variety of marketing and promotional programs in order to achieve company goals. Works to develop ongoing go-to-market strategies inclusive of sales, merchandizing, and marketing plans. Engages customers through a variety of strategies while consistently promoting Ware Group products and services.

2. Develops and maintains a deep understanding of target markets, customer, and vendor needs and the competitive landscape. Monitors marketplace through market analysis and evaluation of industry trends, providing relevant and effective marketing programs to meet changing market conditions.

3. Works collaboratively Category and Product Managers and the Sales and Pricing teams to develop, implement, and manage day to day activities related to strategic marketing plans across departmental and product segments. Provides resource planning information to the leadership team.

4. Works proactively with Directors and Regional Managers as well as branch support teams to create, evaluate, and ensure implementation of customer / product segment sales and marketing programs. Collaborates with senior leadership to determine strategic vendor partnerships and support optimal product assortment.

5. Provides consistency in branding and merchandizing look and feel for marketing material, show rooms, and all promotional materials. Ensures consistent customer journey and Johnstone Advantage experience across multiple channels.

6. Develops and aligns marketing efforts with core initiatives consistent with Company strategic plans. Develops and drives locally relevant initiatives, working with regional leadership and major vendors to plan and execute store-specific product assortment, pricing, promotional programs and displays and other go-to-market plans and initiatives.

7. Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and strategic key suppliers and vendors tracking and analyzing vendor performance to ensure Company market share and financial targets align with business plans. Works with customer partners and vendors on potential partnerships and design of programs for customers as well as crafting related marketing strategies.

8. Establishes and maintains a consistent company image and brand/product messaging throughout all marketing and promotional materials and events, including working with Johnstone Supply to ensure overall marketing related requirements are maintained.

9. Provides internal and external marketing collateral. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for marketing programs and promotions. Updates, develops, and maintains marketing material in multiple formats including digital.

10. Conducts research and produces and analyzes reports related to program and promotional efforts. Establishes benchmarks and metrics to measure and report results of marketing efforts.

11. Works with Johnstone Supply LLC, external, and internal partners to create a consistent instore and online experience. Develops content for specific target demographics and markets.

12. Prioritizes and manages multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions. Ensures marketing projects are completed with high quality, professionalism, and timeliness.

13. Manages marketing, event planning and training activities. Manages tradeshow, conference, event, and travel coordination as needed. Represents the Company at various tradeshows, events, and other promotional opportunities providing insightful marketing and vendor data and relevant strategies and guidance on market opportunities.

14. Provides leadership and ongoing coaching for marketing team personnel to cultivate a successful and effective team. Hires, supervises, trains, develops, and provides direction to assigned personnel. Collaborates with all members of the Marketing and Vendor Management team on a variety of projects and initiatives for the implementation of company objectives and goals.

15. Performs other duties as assigned for the smooth and efficient operation of the organization.

Internal Relationships

Communicates directly and regularly across the organization including with executive leadership, IT partners, marketing, and vendor management personnel, Regional, Branch and Account Managers. Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams is a critical key success factor to achieve short and long-term business objectives.

External Relationships

Works with third party partners, vendors, and industry consultants and attends training and events to maintain positive relationships with vendors, industry leaders, and customers. Regularly confers, interfaces, and communicates with staff members from Johnstone Supply, vendors, service providers, and consultants.

Final Decision Maker The Vice President of Vendor Management and Marketing holds final decision-making responsibilities regarding marketing strategies. Director researches, recommends, plans, and implements marketing strategies, and programs including but not limited to eCommerce, in-store training, customer-site training, merchandizing, promotional displays and programs, budget, and equipment requests.

Education, Work Experience & Specialized Skills or Knowledge

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Management, or related field required; MBA or Master's Degree in Marketing preferred.

Minimum of twelve years of progressive sales and marketing experience in decentralized, mid or large multi-location organization; HVAC/R or wholesale distribution experience preferred.

Seven or more years of direct supervisory experience managing a team.

Exceptionally strong project management and analytical skills with experience managing complex and varied projects.

Demonstrated understanding of eCommerce and technology savvy. Eclipse experience preferred.

Understanding of tactics and platforms to drive marketing campaigns including use of CRM.

Experience with digital marketing strategies and social media. Familiarity and experience with digital technology landscape.

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, research and make decisions based on day-to-day and complex marketing problems

Exemplary communication skills, written and verbal with ability to effectively present and deliver to a varied audience. Ability to communicate proficiently in English in all formats.

Must be able to think critically and make sound and impactful business decisions.

Must be able to present ideas and information clearly and succinctly in a variety of formats and to varied audiences. Ability to train and educate both employees and customers.

Customer oriented with ability to build and maintain positive relationships.

Strong organizational and project management skills including attention to detail and accuracy with respect to record keeping, reporting, and documentation.

Ability to work under pressure, project plan, meet deadlines, and manage short- and long-term priorities and objectives.

Physical Environment / Working Conditions

Typical office environment working conditions at Branch Support with relatively frequent on-site trips to various Branch office / operations facilities that requires standing, walking and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Visual acuity and hand dexterity required for reading, producing reports, or doing computer work for extended periods of time. Limited physical exertion required in the course of daily activity. Auditory acuteness required to perform heavy volume of telephone and personal contacts on an individual, or group meeting level. High volume of business travel may be up to 75% on the local, multi-state, and regional basis, as needed.
