THE ROLE:

The AMD GPU team is looking for inquisitive, motivated Graphics Design Engineer - Shader Core with experience to build ground-breaking GPUs. As a member of our design team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of high-performance, low power Shader/SIMD processor sub-system modules. You will work closely with architects, design engineers, verification engineers, and physical design engineers teams to accomplish your tasks.

THE PERSON:

You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/time zones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Exposure to leadership or mentorship is an asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Drive the micro-architecture development, feasibility studies and documentation of Shader sub-systems.
  2. Implement in RTL and coordinate execution with the verification team to ensure that the design is functional.
  3. Exercise logic design skills to optimize and meet performance, timing and power targets.
  4. Deliver a synthesis/timing clean design while working with the physical design team ensuring a routable and physically implementable design.
  5. Support hardware engineering activities including chip floor plan, power/clock distribution, chip assembly, timing closure, power and noise analysis, and back-end verification.
  6. Develop flows and tools as necessary in support of design activities.

REFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  1. Proficient in IP level ASIC design.
  2. Experience in micro-architecture and RTL development of complex, high speed designs, ideally in CPU/GPU (Shader)/NPU/Compute subsystems.
  3. Exposure to Computer Architecture and Digital Systems design.
  4. Highly proficient in logic design, Verilog and/or System-Verilog, with a deep understanding of physical design and VLSI.
  5. Proficient in debugging firmware and RTL code using simulation tools.
  6. Graphics pipeline knowledge.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  1. Undergrad degree required. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering/ Electrical Engineering is preferred.
