Part Time Page/Shelver, Cary Memorial Library (Lexington)
Cary Memorial Library has an opening for a part time (12 hours/week) Library Page/Shelver. As one of the busiest libraries in Massachusetts, Cary Memorial Library works hard to be at the forefront of library services. We celebrate the diversity of our community through our programming and our collections.
Library Pages assist in keeping the library’s collections in good order in a busy, service-oriented environment. Tasks include but are not limited to: shelving materials according to the library’s organization system, sorting returned materials into categories, picking up library materials throughout the library, and maintaining order by regular shelf reading and straightening. This is a Union position with no paid benefits or paid time off.
This is an ideal position for someone who is available during typical school day hours. The schedule is 12 hours a week; includes mornings and afternoons during the week, as well as multiple Saturdays per month. May include some evenings.
Qualifications
The ideal candidates will be self-motivated and detail-oriented, be able to alphabetize accurately, and be familiar with decimals. The position requires substantial physical activity, including standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting materials, and pushing book trucks. Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
