Position Type: Overnight Residential - Temporary Full-Time

About this opportunity:

Performs a variety of clerical and secretarial work necessary for the smooth operation of the camp office; processes routine paperwork; files and records information; answers the telephone and provides general information regarding office operations; processes incoming/outgoing mail; collects and processes fees for camp bookings. Incumbent also functions as a music instructor to assist and support the musical component of the Music Conservatory Program.

Key responsibilities:

  • Relieves the conservatory director of all administrative detail.
  • Performs dictation, typing, and filing as a majority of the responsibilities.
  • Processes a variety of routine paperwork necessary for office operations.
  • Maintains files and records information.
  • Answers the telephone and provides general information regarding the conservatory operations.
  • Maintains the daily schedule as outlined in weekly programs.
  • Maintains office cleanliness and keeps office traffic to a minimum.
  • Collects all lost and found items.
  • Assists with copying, filing or other office responsibilities as needed.
  • Assists with preparations for camper registration including checking in paperwork.
  • Collects and checks all USDA sheets for each camper at registration; keeps USDA records at meals; completes proper USDA forms for food deliveries.
  • Guides music instruction to help children and youth succeed in school by increasing their involvement and motivation.
  • Provides training and development of campers for music instruction.
  • Prepares students for recitals and presentations.
  • Supervises the maintenance and daily operations of the program equipment.
  • Recommends and develops activities to enhance students' creative abilities and skills.
  • Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students.
  • Supervises and organizes an assigned group of campers during scheduled and unscheduled blocks of time.
  • Promotes and stimulates participation of campers.
  • Participates and assists in various classes as assigned.
  • Schedules performances and ensures that all necessary supplies are available.
  • Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs and other camp activities.
  • Keeps personal living quarters neat, clean, and ready for inspection.
  • Available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May perform ministry functions such as presenting devotional material, praying with campers, or leading in songs.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Six months experience teaching music, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred, or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Some physical requirements include endurance, climbing, standing, bending, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate office equipment are required. Normal hearing and eyesight to communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours. Daily exposure to the sun and varying environmental conditions.

Additional Information:

Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 9 – 15, 2025, and participation is required. The 2025 summer Camp program session will be held June 16 - July 19, 2025. Please inform us on your application if you are unable to work the entire session.
