Assistant Teaching Professor, Music Technology or Commercial Music - 498829-2453 at BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description The Boise State University Department of Music invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Music Technology/Commercial Music. This is a three-year, non-tenure-eligible position with the possibility of renewal as an Assistant Teaching Professor based on demonstrated student need and other relevant factors. We seek a dynamic, multifaceted individual to teach and support our music production/technology courses, the music production certificate, our newly designed Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, and the Bachelor of Music (BM) degrees. Additional duties will be aligned with the applicant's expertise and may include commercial music composition, technical production, or other music courses. We recognize that music technology and commercial music are part of a constantly evolving industry. Boise State University is the largest university in Idaho, and is located in a thriving metropolitan area. The Department of Music, housed within the School of the Arts and the College of Arts and Sciences, has approximately 150 majors in the undergraduate and graduate degrees, 21 full-time faculty and 25 adjunct faculty. We offer Bachelor of Music degrees in Composition, Music Education, and Performance; a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music; and Master of Music (MM) degrees in Choral Conducting, Music Education, and Performance. The workload for this position is 80% teaching (12 credits per semester) and 20% service. Job Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate music technology classes that support the music production certificate and the BA and BM degrees. Teach additional course(s) based upon candidate's expertise, such as commercial music composition, technical production, jazz classes, private lessons, or other music courses Mentoring experiential learning activities Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree Substantial experience in the discipline (i.e., experience in music industry, combined experience in industry and teaching, substantial teaching experience at the college/university level) Evidence of activity in music production (e.g., projects, productions, compositions, commercial recordings) Evidence of experience in both live event and recording studio environments Ability to teach and mentor undergraduate students Preferred Qualifications: At least one degree in music Experience in teaching industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations software Commercial music performing experience Ability to compose and arrange in a commercial music setting Additional area(s) of expertise in music, technology, or the music industry Certifications relevant to music industry Technical theatre experience Required application materials: Please complete the online application (including names of 3 references), and in the attachments section, applicants will submit: Cover letter, indicating candidate's interest and qualifications for this position CV and/or Resume 3 pieces of evidence of teaching/mentorship in music production and/or commercial music (e.g., electronic music, sound recording, sound engineering).
