Job Summary
Fiber Splicer will run a trailer and will exclusively work with fiber optic cabling.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage all the splicing tasks at a job site.
- Read and understand cut sheets.
- Provide asbuilt information as needed.
- Provide trouble shooting and documentation of span losses (OTDR shots).
- Splice fiber optic cables (loose tube and ribbon cables) including high count ribbon fiber of 864 count or higher.
- Construct proper splice cases and fiber termination panels.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems.
- Operate technical equipment, including but not limited to computer, OTDR, power meters, fusion splicing equipment, and understand the functions.
- Lift and manipulate splice enclosures and other equipment.
- Installation and dressing of fiber optic cabling.
- Reading and interpreting work prints and splice diagrams.
- Reading and interpreting existing fiber records, on maps or in the field.
- Daily presentation of Job Safety Analysis.
- Daily record-keeping of completed work.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with fiber optic cable splicing, testing and troubleshooting required.
- Proficiency with tools including cable strippers, fiber hand tools, and test equipment.
- Ability to complete testing and report results and provide timely reports to the splice manager/supervisor.
- Must exhibit and uphold safety values and ensure worksite safety.
- Must work Saturdays and overtime as required and applicable.
- Valid US Driver's License.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Salary Description
$28-$45/hour
