Job Summary
The CAD Designer will be based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role is pivotal in our aviation projects division, where the primary focus will revolve around the meticulous design of critical elements such as runways, taxiways, aircraft aprons, airfield drainage systems, and access roads for airports spanning Louisiana and the broader Southeast region. We are in search of an individual who possesses adeptness in designing and drafting civil construction plans using AutoCAD software. The ideal candidate will showcase proficiency in AutoCAD and exhibit a capacity for both autonomous work and collaborative efforts within a team setting. The CAD Designer will develop construction plans for airport infrastructure projects. The CAD Designer will contribute and provide support in completing engineering tasks related to design procedures, evaluation of criteria, and the creation of accurate estimates. The candidate will be involved in intricate engineering and geometric calculations specific to airport design, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and departmental procedures.
Responsibilities
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
Expected Hours of Work
This position is full-time. The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule. This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office 5 days per week.

The CAD Designer will develop construction plans for airport infrastructure projects. The CAD Designer will contribute and provide support in completing engineering tasks related to design procedures, evaluation of criteria, and the creation of accurate estimates. The candidate will be involved in intricate engineering and geometric calculations specific to airport design, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and departmental procedures.
Responsibilities
- Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to assist in the creation and modification of engineering drawings, plans, and schematics for airport infrastructure and planning projects.
- Performs civil design with a specialized focus on airport infrastructure projects using AutoCAD/Civil3D, under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
- Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to coordinate the design of airport projects under the guidance of a senior engineer/designer.
- Assists with engineering/drafting duties on projects of various complexity.
- Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Assists in the preparation and presentation of airport design details and concepts for public meetings, workshops with local agencies, and internal staff meetings.
- Assists in the continued formulation of CAD standards to be used office wide in order to promote consistency for our plans, exhibits and other project deliverables.
- Familiarity with Louisiana state and parish infrastructure improvement projects, with a specific emphasis on airport infrastructure.
- Proficiency in computer-aided drafting and design tools and automated office products required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in roadway infrastructure, site development or airport design.
- Familiarity with airport design standards, specifications, and criteria established or adopted by relevant authorities, such as FAA and LaDOTD, would be advantageous.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical information.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of drafting experience required.
- 1-3 years of AutoCAD/Civil3D experience, with a strong preference for candidates with airport design experience.
