The City of Northfield is recruiting for a part-time Library Clerk I.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As champions of lifelong learning, libraries are a place where all are welcome to quench curiosity, access technology, and explore new ideas. As a member of our circulation team, you are often the first to greet a visitor, forming their most lasting impression of the library. This position ensures that the entire community feels welcome and knows where they can go for assistance. The Library Clerk I provides excellent customer service, assisting visitors with their accounts, registering new library cards, and assisting with library equipment operation. This position may also assist with programs, outreach activities, notary service, shelving materials, book displays, or other similar needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma;
One year progressively responsible library circulation experience; OR
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish;
Library database experience;
Post-secondary education;
Library certification
HOURS OF WORK:
20-24 hours per week. Shifts vary in length and includes days, evenings and/or weekends.
