SUMMARY
Design and develop specific product categories with the guidance of Senior Designer / Design Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Support the development of ladies sportswear apparel product lines.
● Research current and future trends for color, silhouette, fabric and trim.
● Keep up with fashion focused news, social media and other resources.
● Partner with Merchandising and Sourcing to ensure designs meet pricing and margin requirements.
● Attends design meetings and presents ideas and designs with guidance of manager.
● Contribute to product assortments through presentation boards and cads
● Designs new silhouettes.
● Draws silhouettes and illustrations in Illustrator.
● Responsible for communicating design details through accurate flat sketches
● Assists in fabric and trim development.
● Ensures all design assets are accurate and passed to Product Coordinator/Developer on time for PLM creation.
● Work with Technical Designers and Product Coordinator/ Developer to ensure PLM packages are accurate and
complete.
● Ensures all protos and sales samples are received as requested through PLM techpacks
● Attends all fittings and actively participate.
● Updates sketches for any style changes post fittings. Communicates changes to appropriate players.
● Attends all WIP (work in progress) meetings
● Maintains clear communication across all functional areas including overseas partners
● Adhere to product development and production calendars, meeting critical deadlines
SKILLS:
● Experience in CAD software systems: Nedgraphics a plus.
● Experience in tech pack data management systems: i.e.. webPDM, PLM, etc
● Strong research, design, and conceptual skills.
● Ability to design around concepts for multiple consumer markets.
● Off price design experience helpful
● Strong sense of style and color.
● Strong sense of trends and ability to utilize research as inspiration for design development.
● Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills.
● Ability to think three-dimensionally and to visualize from swatch to body.
● Knowledge and good understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment
● Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
● Google docs is a plus
REQUIREMENTS
● Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design
● 2+ years experience, preferably in ladies apparel
