The Senior Designer for Mammotome is responsible for assisting with the design and leading documentation and release of various mechanical systems, packaging related components, and CAD assemblies. The mechanical designer is a vital role within the organization and serves as a resident expert for all things 3D assembly-related as well as 2D drawing and configuration management. They serve as the gatekeeper role in ensuring accurate and timely implementation of design solutions into the solid model and within the PDM vault.
This position is part of the Engineering Department located in Cincinnati, OH and will be on-site. At Mammotome, our passion is driving innovative technologies that create efficiencies, while never forgetting that at the heart of every breast cancer journey is a patient.
You will be a part of the Consumables Train and report to the Engineering Manager responsible for 3D modeling and detail drawing creation and management. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Independently or with minimal guidance, build 3D solid models from dimensioned sketches, and create detailed drawings, sub-assemblies, and layouts from sketches or markups.
Work collaboratively with engineering and cross-functional teams to develop products from pre-commercial through production. Design & develop mechanisms (cams, linkages, gear trains, etc.). Contribute to concept identification, selection & development.
Use electronic data management system for CAD files, simulations and final device & packaging assemblies and apply GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerance) principles to component design and drawings specifications to help perform tolerance and stack-up analyses.
Solve complex problems using existing solutions, act as a resource for less experienced colleagues, and potentially lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
Explain difficult or sensitive information to build consensus and perform other assigned duties.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Associate’s Degree (AS) in Engineering Technology, or related field / experience required
5+ years related work experience with degree OR combination of equivalent experience. Medical device industry experience preferred.
CAD modeling, layout and drawing creation experience required (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience in GD&T required (certifications &/or relevant training preferred)
Apply DFM/A (design for manufacturing & assembly) principles to plastic component/mold design (draft, parting line, shutoffs, gating, core & cavity features) & precision metallic component design (stampings, coining, progressive die, NC Machining, PM, MIM, EDM and laser cutting)
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Experienced in configuration and Bill of Materials (BOM) management preferred
Experience working with a Quality Management System (QMS) or other similarly regulated industry
Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies
The salary range for this role is $105,000 – $125,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
