Summary: We are seeking a Technical Writer/Documentation Engineer to join our technical writing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the quality, discoverability, and accuracy of developer-focused content for both internal and external technologies. You will conduct hands-on research and gather necessary technical content from subject matter experts, translating it into clear, concise, and structured documentation. You will document content yourself, edit contributed content, and reorganize existing documentation. Additionally, you may have opportunities to engage in coding and project management for various documentation requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain internal and external documentation for technologies and tools.

  • Work closely with engineering, product, and support teams to ensure the quality, discoverability, and accuracy of the content you create and develop.

  • Design, write, and edit technical and process documentation.

  • Navigate and document content across multiple platforms such as web, iOS, and Android.

  • Create and maintain code sample fragments and sample apps.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of programming.

  • Ability to write and test simple sample code.

  • Proficiency in reading and understanding sample code.

  • Experience using command line tools.

  • Familiarity with APIs and API documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, technical writing, physics, mathematics, chemistry, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in writing, technical documentation, and/or developer outreach for a developer audience.

  • 2+ years of experience with a programming language such as JavaScript, Objective-C, Java, PHP, Python, etc.

  • Proven experience in writing, proofreading, and editing.

  • Experience producing and organizing content with a logical flow.

  • Proficiency with authoring tools and technologies such as XML, HTML, Markdown, and Figma.

  • Experience in programming, using the command line, testing user interfaces, and working with prototype hardware in test environments.

  • Experience meeting multiple deadlines.

Location: Remote (United States)

Role type: Contract 9 Month Position

Expected hours: 40 per week
