Job Summary
The Life Protection (Film) Technician is responsible for the set-up, operation, prevention and troubleshooting of issues and housekeeping of equipment as assigned. Production equipment is expected to be operated in accordance with standard operating procedures and recipe work instructions. The technician is also responsible for:
- Taking and measuring in-process samples and monitoring product quality of intermediate and finished products,
- Maintaining required records of raw and intermediate materials, finished products,
- Moving, maintaining inventory, and storing required materials for equipment as needed,
- Assisting in training, guidance, and support of other team members.

The selected candidate may be required to work several different shifts in other areas of the plant.
Essential Functions
All employees have the responsibility to:
- Show behaviour in line with the SHE and Security risks and agreed controls, including being compliant to Avient requirements, rules, and procedures.
- Assure that all employees follow established occupational safety rules, housekeeping, Hazmat regulations, JSAs and SOPs.
- Address and report person(s) behaving in a SHE and Security irresponsible manner and document observed risks.
- Abide by and enforce Avient procedures/policies regarding security.
- Champion sustainability by promoting a “reduce/reuse/recycle” philosophy within their team.
Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility:
- Responsible for compliance with relevant laws, regulatory requirements, recipes, SOPs, and other related documentation and activities.
- Set up, operate, adjust, and clean all equipment required for production in accordance with work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining goals of the business.
- Support and drive productivity to meet plant and corporate initiatives, as outlined in the manufacturing plan.
- Take samples to test and determine properties of the produced products.
- Correct process conditions with given limits, to maintain desired results.
- Perform in-process and off-line quality checks as required.
- Maintain accurate records of the used raw materials and the produced products in the appropriate computer system.
- Move, measure, maintain inventory and store raw, intermediate, and finished products.
- Utilize data and good judgment in making critical decisions on product quality, equipment functionality, safety, and other related activities.
- Actively contribute to Lean, 5S, and Continuous Improvement efforts within the Production area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma (Required) with at least 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing, production, or equivalent military technical experiences/training.
Qualifications
- Work experience in an industrial operations environment preferred.
- This role requires working on a rotating shift schedule.
- Ability to follow appropriate SHE (safety, health, and environmental) procedures.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and applicable work instructions.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Effective communication skills to receive information related to site and area goals.
- Basic computer skills.

- Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to walk and use hands.
- May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 100 pounds.
