As a Publishing Consultant, you will play a crucial role in engaging with prospective authors and clients to thoroughly understand their publishing needs and deliver customized solutions based on those needs. This consultative sales position demands a highly motivated, results-oriented professional with a strong track record in sales. You will be responsible for qualifying and converting incoming leads from our website and phone inquiries into successful author partnerships.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Facilitate and streamline the client journey from initial contact through to the fulfillment of our services, ensuring clear communication of expectations and providing comprehensive support via phone and email.
  • Present and communicate the value proposition of Palmetto Publishing to prospective authors, guiding them through the process of joining our community of published authors.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with potential authors, deeply understanding their needs and preferences to recommend the most effective publishing solutions.
  • Efficiently qualify and respond to incoming leads via email and phone, maintaining a high level of engagement and responsiveness.
  • Conduct persistent follow-ups with leads and prospects to drive conversions.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed estimates and service orders to new authors.
  • Evaluate and screen potential book submissions for content appropriateness, exercising sound judgment in assessing book titles, topics, and authors.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced active listening capabilities.
  • Quick-thinking and adaptable with a strong instinct for problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated drive and determination to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Understanding Value Selling and how to move authors through our sales process.
  • Proficient in persuasion and influencing, with a track record of successful negotiations.
  • Persistent and goal-oriented with a strategic approach to achieving objectives.
  • Rapid learner with the ability to grasp and implement new concepts and processes efficiently.

Skills:

  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce is a bonus.
  • Experience in Value Selling methodologies.
  • Previous publishing industry experience is not required, but a solid background in sales is essential.
  • High energy and a proven ability to tackle challenging tasks with enthusiasm.
  • Forward-thinking, resilient, and able to learn from setbacks while maintaining a competitive edge.
  • Strong team player with a competitive spirit.
