About the Role:
MarketWatch is looking for a dogged reporter for its technology team who can make sense of market developments in the form of actionable investment recommendations for readers. This reporter will use diligent financial and strategic analysis to identify stocks that are likely winners and losers from these dynamics.
You Will:
- Analyze developments in the technology market to write articles with actionable stock recommendations.
- Screen stocks using valuation metrics to identify potential winners and losers.
- Break down complex financial concepts and valuation metrics into clear, accessible insights for retail investors.
- Provide in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of major tech companies like Nvidia, Salesforce, and Apple.
- Take a strong, well-reasoned point of view on tech stocks, backed by thorough research and data.
- Explore big-picture industry questions, such as the future of Palantir’s stock and Intel’s leadership impact.
- Gracefully juggle multiple projects under deadline while maintaining accuracy and depth.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom to enhance coverage.
You Have:
- 5-7 years of experience in business writing.
- Deep understanding of financial and valuation metrics.
- Willingness to take strong points of view on many pockets of the technology sector.
- Ability to conduct stock screens through FactSet or other data platforms.
- Knack for communicating technical concepts through accessible and engaging language.
- Adept at finding differentiated angles off the news.
- A track record of writing unique, engaging stories.
- Commitment to accuracy and integrity through your work.
