The Consortium, Inc. is hiring: Health Writer in Washington

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to help maintain our tradition of superior reporting and newsgathering. We are interested in finding a journalist who can create unique, memorable, and well-written stories, who can share them on all platforms with a mix of outstanding photography and unforgettable editing.

Responsibilities:

1. Must be a prolific writer, will write quick daily stories.
2. Understand SEO practices, be able to communicate with SEO experts, have digital publishing experience, and produce consumer-facing content; must have some CMS experience.
3. Develop story ideas.
4. Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise.
5. Identify, write, and produce stories within a specific framework.
6. Research for facts and credibility.
7. Maintain and develop sources who will help bring our reporting to the next level.
8. Plan, assign, and edit content for advertising sponsorships, for example, dental health, skin health, and vision (approximately 3-4 sponsorships per year).
9. Write and assign health features within the healthy living/wellness beat including diet, exercise, disease prevention, lifestyle health benefits, and general wellness (approximately 2 features/week).

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience.
2. 5-7 years of Health Writing Experience.
3. Must be organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines.
4. Proven social and digital content creation ability.
5. Ability to be assigned stories and pitch them as well.
