Adams Publishing Group is seeking a full-time reporter to cover local government and community news in our Mount Vernon, Washington office. The ideal candidate is a collaborative self-starter who can work independently and has demonstrated skill as a reporter, writer and photographer.

Candidates with at least two years' experience are preferred, but recent college graduates and individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, daily deadline work environment are encouraged to apply.

We are a developmental-oriented team committed to helping you advance in your journalism career. This is a full-time, in-person position with full health care and other benefits.

We’re looking for people who want to grow their skills, help and collaborate with others and be part of a community-focused team. Our journalists need to be ready to adapt to a modern, subscriber-based journalism model that recognizes digital consumption of news is our future. If that describes you, come join our growing company and be part of a vibrant, collaborative newsroom that will be working together on enterprise stories that affect us all locally and regionally.

This position will involve reporting, photography and videography. The journalists best suited to this role will be creative self-starters with a natural curiosity about the people in our communities.

We need people who want to build relationships with sources, peers and mentors and will always look for ways to engage readers and get beyond the surface of stories. Adams Publishing Group produces news publications that serve readers who want useful, local content. We need stories about our neighbors, our businesses, our governments and local trends.

Qualifications include a degree in journalism or professional reporting experience. Skills desired include photography, social media, an understanding of open records laws and the ability to get sources to speak freely, whether that’s a government official or a reluctant feature story subject. Most important is a can-do attitude and a desire to expand your skills.

To be considered for this position, send a resume, cover letter, samples of your work.

This position is 37.5 hours a week and pays between $19.10 - $22.29 an hour based on experience.

We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.
