Job Description
Currently seeking a driven engineering student to join our custom Studio 431 team. This position is designed to allow students the opportunity to learn and apply industrial/manufacturing/design engineering techniques in a manufacturing environment.
This is a part-time, hourly position based in Kalamazoo, MI and will be required to work onsite at our Kalamazoo facilities. Our ideal applicant would be interested in working full-time in the summer and a minimum of 20hrs a week throughout the school year.
Students will gain experience in:
- SolidWorks
- Product Design
- Drafting and Modeling Standards
- Interpreting Architectural Design Drawings
- Project Scheduling
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Welding and fabrication techniques
- Working with all levels and disciplines in a manufacturing environment
- Project Management
Principal Responsibilities
- Assist custom project engineers in solving product design challenges.
- Develop skills with the use of Solid Works and apply to product modeling.
- Create shop drawing packages for fabrication team.
- Assist manufacturing engineers with process tooling design and fabrication techniques.
- Participate in custom product process development. This may require travel to suppliers for component qualifications.
- Participate in project brainstorming and update meetings.
Education:
High school diploma with a desire to become an engineer in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical Engineering.
Must be enrolled as a student in an accredited engineering related program
Experience:
Experience with Solidworks CAD software is an advantage.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The environment is mostly office but may include a shop environment that is noisy and dirty.
