Job Description

The Web Designer develops high-quality web designs and interfaces to support Draper's online presence and marketing efforts. This role is a member of the Technical & Product Team but frequently collaborates with Design & Messaging Team members to create engaging, responsive, and visually consistent web content. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. After completing a six-month training period, there is an option to work from home up to two days per week.

• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Design & Messaging Team, the Web Developer, and other team members to create and implement creative concepts to support product launches, campaigns, and other Marketing initiatives.
• Web Design:
  • Create, publish, and maintain responsive web designs that align with Draper's brand standards, incorporating multimedia elements such as video, animation, and interactive components.
  • Utilize Figma or Adobe XD to create page designs and content.
  • Translate approved designs into production-ready HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap-based layouts.
  • Perform manual coding in Visual Studio Code to refine, implement, and enhance web designs.
• WordPress Management:
  • Design and publish pages, forms, and other items as needed in our WordPress sites.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain functionality of sites.
• Review & Optimization:
  • Collect and analyze data about site usage with heatmaps and analytics.
  • Optimize designs for search engine visibility, site performance, and accessibility.
• File Management & Documentation:
  • Build pages on the development server. Once approved, publish pages to the live site.
  • Maintain and archive project working files in the Marketing Department's OneDrive.
  • Create and maintain Standard Work documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy across projects.

Qualifications

• Education: degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in web design or a related role, or demonstrated ability to create responsive web designs and interfaces.
• Technical Skills: proficiency in Figma or Adobe XD. Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles. Experience with Bootstrap framework for layout and components. Proficiency in Visual Studio Code or similar code editors. Basic understanding of SEO best practices. Experience with web analytics tools like Google Analytics.
• Soft Skills: Strong collaboration and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
