Position Overview
As a Senior User Experience Designer at Raymour & Flanigan, you will play a pivotal role in crafting intuitive, engaging digital shopping experiences. You'll lead UX initiatives that transform complex challenges into seamless, user-friendly solutions, leveraging research, data, and industry best practices. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you'll drive strategic design decisions, mentor designers, and advocate for the adoption of user-centered design. While partnering closely with the Senior UX Design Manager and the Design Systems Manager, you'll ensure consistency in design execution while championing the system's effective use across teams. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented leader who thrives on solving UX challenges, influencing product strategy, and delivering exceptional user experiences.
Responsibilities
Strategic UX Leadership:
Own and drive end-to-end design projects from research and ideation through execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs. Advocate for user-centered design principles, helping shape product roadmaps and company-wide UX best practices. Collaborate with the Design Systems Manager to ensure designs align with established guidelines, while also advocating for system enhancements based on user and business needs. Design & Research Execution:
Utilize Figma and other design tools to create detailed wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished UI designs. Conduct and oversee usability testing, A/B testing, heatmap analysis, and other research methods to gather insights and validate design decisions. Synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to drive improvements in user experience, usability, and conversion rates. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:
Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Analytics teams to translate business objectives into seamless, user-friendly designs. Present design concepts, rationale, and research findings to senior stakeholders, gaining buy-in for UX initiatives. Lead and participate in design critiques, offering and receiving constructive feedback to elevate design quality across the team. Mentorship & Process Improvement:
Mentor and support other designers, providing guidance on design execution, best practices and research methodologies. Champion UX best practices, evangelize the design system, and ensure consistency in execution across all digital experiences. Continuously refine design processes to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and innovation within the UX team. Innovation & Industry Expertise:
Stay ahead of emerging design trends, technologies, and competitor experiences, bringing new ideas and improvements to Raymour & Flanigan's UX strategy. Proactively identify and address UX gaps, anticipating customer needs and friction points before they arise. Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned. Requirements
Experience & Education:
5-8 years of UX design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating a strong track record of impactful, data-driven design work. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, UX, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Technical Skills:
Expert proficiency in Figma (or similar tools like Sketch or Adobe XD), with experience designing within a structured design system. Strong foundation in user research, heuristic evaluation, and usability testing tools (e.g., Userlytics, Quantum Metric, Qualtrics). Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to effectively communicate with development teams. Familiarity with ADA accessibility standards and best practices for inclusive design. Collaboration & Leadership:
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders at all levels, influencing product decisions through research-backed insights. Strong communication and storytelling skills, with experience presenting design work to senior leadership. Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading other designers to elevate team performance and design maturity. Problem-Solving & Execution:
Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to identify and solve complex UX challenges. Adept at working in fast-paced, agile environments, balancing multiple priorities without sacrificing quality. Preferred Qualifications
Agile & Lean UX experience, working in iterative design and development cycles. Experience driving conversion rate optimization (CRO) and data-informed UX improvements. Background in e-commerce, retail, or enterprise-level digital experiences.
The salary range for this role is $80,000-$110,000, with the final offer depending on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications. We strive to offer competitive compensation that reflects the value each individual brings to our team.
