The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring a Network Broadcast Operator. The position is based in Clearwater, FL and the shift is 3pm to 11pm EST. You'll be responsible for real-time observation, trouble ticket reporting, and tier response escalation to ensure the highest quality broadcast practices on all signals that leave the Scripps national network operations facility. The Broadcast Operator aims to quickly address any on-air issues jeopardizing Scripps's product delivery.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Watch all of SCRIPPS’s “Send and Return” signals to ensure technical transmission and quality of broadcast.

  • Effectively communicate and troubleshoot all outages/issues per company SOP’s.

  • Cross-reference logs against on-air playlists to ensure accuracy and timing.

  • Modify on-air playlists as needed to ensure setup and execution of on-air elements through automated commands.

  • Monitor local weather (re: transmitter adjustments or need for generator).

  • Answer, report, and troubleshoot incoming calls from external companies about satellite receiver issues.

  • Ensure that all on-air equipment is operational and follow necessary procedures to correct any issues.

  • Enforce and adhere to company policies and procedures including corporate guidelines and best practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Must have strong computer skills and be comfortable in a Windows environment; Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required.

  • Ability to work well under pressure.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication/documentation skills.

  • Organized and self-motivated.

  • Knowledge of all related origination equipment, or ability to learn.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

  • Ability to troubleshoot minor operational problems.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to work well as part of a team.

  • Ability to proactively identify problems and troubleshoot before affecting on-air.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must have a flexible schedule and be agreeable to work anytime in a 24/7 operation (nights, weekends, holidays).
