The Royal Caribbean Group’s Celebrity Entertainment Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Manager, Broadcast & Media Operations reporting to the Director, Entertainment Experience.

This position will work onsite in Miami, Florida

Position Summary:

In this position, you would be responsible for the strategy and management of the shipboard Broadcast and Media Program inclusive of operational support of all onboard Broadcast teams, equipment, and programming. This position forecasts and manages budgets and negotiates terms and contracts with programming providers and equipment providers. You would review and evaluate shipboard performance utilizing analytics and trends to determine programming strategies and opportunities to continuously deliver on departmental goals and companywide initiatives. In addition, you would support the implementation of new and current policies, programming, SOPs, project rollouts, and other operational responsibilities and needs to support a consistent fleetwide Entertainment Experience that speaks to our brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides operational support to all Celebrity Broadcast Teams to deliver an elevated broadcast and media product to drive brand KPIs.
  • Vets, recruits, and trains top-level broadcast managers and operators for onboard and traveling positions.
  • Works with Recruiting / Onboarding teams to ensure full staffing for all vessels.
  • Creates and fosters relationships with all existing and potential vendors to support all broadcast equipment, satellites, feeds, servers, routing systems, editing systems, and other related broadcast equipment.
  • Stays attuned to the latest industry trends and innovations, recommending upgrades to improve the onboard offering.
  • Develops, implements, and supervises programming related to the Television and Films Library, and Video Development for use by onboard teams.
  • Supports the technical requirements related to background music and the delivery of the product.
  • Supports the current television promotions and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to increase onboard revenue-generating opportunities whilst ensuring brand standards.
  • Manages and executes special events (primarily sporting events) transmitted to the ships via satellite system technologies and oversees delivery of instruction to ensure a flawless product.
  • Collaborates with Celebrity Cruises Theatrical Production, Activities, Live Music, Headliner, Enrichment, and Youth Teams, to maximize the quality and effectiveness of all video support to ensure elevated video collateral for the purposes of marketing, training, and archival needs.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to leverage broadcast assets for marketing purposes.
  • Collaborates with newbuild, refurbishment, and entertainment technical teams to utilize future-proofing technologies through the procurement and integration of broadcast equipment, delivery devices, LED walls, and projection equipment to elevate Celebrity Cruises’ onboard environments and ensure the longevity of projects.
  • Forecasts and manages the Programming, Content, Repair and Maintenance, and capital project’s budgets for Celebrity Cruises’ Broadcast program.
  • Liaises with legal and all brands within the Royal Caribbean Group to leverage favorable terms for programming and equipment.
  • Leverages data analytics, consumer insight, and customer feedback to drive programming strategy.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably in Communications, Broadcasting, Travel and Leisure, and/or Hospitality Management and/or 5-7 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience within the broadcast field or as a Media Specialist.
  • Robust understanding of computer systems, broadcast equipment, video distribution, satellite reception, and video servers, video formats, codecs, SDI, NDI, live video production, and non-linear editing.
  • Expertise in modern broadcast systems, streaming platforms, and content management systems is required.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting abilities and a commitment to maintaining the highest broadcast quality standards.
  • Experience with content licensing, copyright regulations, and compliance with international distribution laws.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital creative tools such as Adobe Suite in Video, Photography, and Graphics, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Media encoder. Microsoft 365, proficient in Windows and MacOS environments, management of databases and scheduling.
  • Video server knowledge, familiarity with Castus, with MAM/DAM.
  • Strategic thinker who acts with a sense of urgency to ensure business needs are at the forefront.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in English (oral and written form).
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form and communicates effectively and appropriately to meet audience needs.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and judgment for showing, promoting, products or services to meet the expectation of Celebrity Cruises Clientele and brand standards.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing a high level of customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Exemplifies Celebrity Cruises leadership values and the Celebrity Way to elevate the Broadcast and Media product and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Apply excellent verbal and written communication skills effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making; consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate selection.
  • Ability to build annual budgets and accurately forecast costs associated with all broadcast assets and repairs.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • May be required to travel internationally approximately 30% of work-related time. This individual will work approximately 70% of the work time at Celebrity Cruises’ Miami headquarters and select days at our North Miami studios.
  • Managing and forecasting Films and R&M budget.
  • Managing and forecasting Broadcast R&M budget.
