The Delacorte Press imprint of Random House Children's Books/Penguin Random House has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Editor to join their team. This role reports to the Publisher of Delacorte Press.
We are seeking an enthusiastic editor with a passion for storytelling and teen literature. Responsibilities include editing and overseeing the development of our YA licensing publishing business, as well as managing the editorial process for occasional non-licensed teen novels from manuscript acquisition to final production. The editor will collaborate closely with authors, licensors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality content, ensure timely delivery of materials and adherence to production schedules. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a keen eye for detail, and experience working with licensed properties and original content.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Edit and oversee the development of the licensing YA list, ensuring the books meet brand guidelines and editorial standards, manage creator and licensor approvals, and contribute to the overall commercial creative execution of the list.
- Acquire and edit the occasional non-licensed middle grade and YA novels for the Delacorte Press list.
- Be the project manager and primary point of contact for overall scheduling, communication, administration, and creative development and production for all titles under purview.
- Work closely with Design on branding, packaging, and general design.
Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of editorial experience, preferably in licensed publishing or young adult fiction.
- Stellar structural and line-editing ability.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and licensors.
- Experience in negotiation and managing books through the editorial/production process.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with superb organizational and time management skills.
- Must be a creative self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and meet deadlines, take initiative, and problem-solve creatively.
The PRH office is located in New York City. The position is open to remote candidates within the United States. Core working hours must include availability for meetings between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET, as needed.
The salary range for this position is $81,500 – 83,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
