Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
The Health Sciences Librarian provides research, curriculum, and clinical support to health system researchers, clinicians, and other health care providers and clinical staff to support patient care, educational, and clinical research objectives. This individual will provide assistance with bibliographic instruction, reference, collection development, and other professional librarian duties.

Qualifications
- Education: Required: Master’s degree in Library Science (M.L.I.S.)
- Licensure/Certification: Required: N/A; Preferred: Certification with Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP)
- Experience: Required: Two (2) years of librarianship experience; Preferred: Health science librarianship experience
Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
Performs general reference services, including searches of online databases, general internet resources, print resources, and other sources to provide relevant information to clinicians, researchers, and other health care providers and health system staff for patient care, organizational processes, education, and clinical research.
Develops, performs, and documents individualized research consultations and complex literature searches in online databases, including evidence-based and systematic reviews; maintains current knowledge of online database and search languages and strategies.
Conducts both large group and individual orientation sessions and training on library resources, including online databases, literature searching, current awareness services, citation management software; develops print and online fact sheets and instructional guides for library users.
Designs and implements needs assessment and service evaluation tools and processes to measure the Library's performance against user needs and expectations; evaluates Library services, collections, and practices relative to those of comparable institutions, and to national standards or benchmarks.
Develops long- and short-range strategic plans for future Library services and performance, based on the stated and/or anticipated needs of the Library's clientele; prepares performance improvement plans for the Library. Submits reports in accordance with EH’s performance improvement program.
Develops departmental operating and capital budgets; monitors the Library's expenses; prepares variance reports according to health system standards.
Develops and maintains active relationships with library vendors, actively participating in the contractual/renewal processes as defined by EH’s Office of Legal Affairs, to ensure timely renewals and continuous access to necessary software supporting the libraries eJournal collections.
Supports collection development through review of existing collections and recommendation of new resources.
Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with other libraries through active participation in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, and by contacts with regional hospital libraries.
Processes incoming and outgoing Docline Inter-Library Loan requests for journal articles or other materials; processes all related payments and reimbursements between participating libraries.
Maintains Eisenhower Health’s Medical Library Association (MLA) Electronic Fund Transfer System (EFTS) account in good standing. The EFTS account is the online billing system for interlibrary loan (ILL) transactions.
Maintains professional expertise through membership in national and regional Medical Library associations, attendance at conferences and seminars, monitoring of the relevant literature, and other appropriate activities.
Maintains Eisenhower Health’s library intranet website.
