Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct music therapy sessions that align with patient-centered care plans to address the psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs of hospice patients.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to integrate music therapy into holistic care strategies.
- Assess and document patient progress, adapting therapy techniques to meet changing care needs and goals.
- Provide support and education to families, utilizing music to facilitate communication and connection during the end-of-life process.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation to ensure compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
Qualifications for a Successful Hospice Music Therapist
- Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy or related field with certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (MT-BC).
- Bachelor's degree or higher with 6+ years of experience in any of the following:
- Geriatric Care
- Senior Care
- Geriatric/LTC
- Hospice, Healthcare, and Palliative Care.
Work Schedule:
● Flexible schedule to accommodate patient needs, which may include some weekends and evenings.
