This position can be based in Temple, TX or Carrollton, TX. The UX/UI Lead Designer will report and work from these offices on a regular basis. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute commute to Temple, TX or Carrollton, TX.
This position will be at the forefront of designing end-to-end digital experiences that captivate and delight our customers and teammates. The UX/UI Lead Designer is responsible for collaborating daily with a team of product owners, software engineers, teammates, and customers to turn ambitious ideas into visually stunning and highly functional designs. The required expertise in Figma and design systems will shape every element of the customer journey, creating solutions that don't just meet requirements but exceed customer and teammate expectations.

Essential Job Functions:
- Continually seek to learn about supply chain management and the retail and restaurant businesses McLane serves. Create strong connections with subject matter experts in various domains within the company and understand the nuances within the business. Travel as needed to Distribution Centers and to customer locations to understand the reality on the ground.
- Lead end-to-end UX efforts, including user research, usability testing, and developing personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Design and Prototype Experiences: Utilize Figma and design systems to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that demonstrate user flows, interaction patterns, and the overall structure of Mobile Apps, Websites, and Web technology-based applications.
- User-Centric Design: Conduct user research and usability testing to understand customer behavior, needs, jobs to be done, and pain points. Analyze research findings to inform design decisions and enhance the user experience. Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices throughout the product development process.
- Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams: Work with Product Owners, Developers, and Analytics teams to ensure designs are implemented effectively and meet business and user goals. Regularly communicate and present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
- Proactive, Data-Driven Optimization: Use analytics, heatmaps, A/B testing, and other data sources to continuously improve the site's UX and performance. Track, analyze, and iterate on designs based on insights from user data.
- Ensure Consistent Brand Experience: Closely partner with the MarCom team and understand McLane’s brand guidelines. Maintain the prescribed brand guidelines, ensuring all elements of the digital applications are aligned with the company's visual identity, design language, and voice.
- Responsive Design: Design responsive and adaptive layouts that provide optimal experiences across mobile, desktop, and tablet devices.
- Innovation and Best Practices: Stay updated on UX design best practices, industry standards, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to bring fresh ideas and approaches to the team.
- Demonstrate Personal Leadership: Take personal accountability for your work and demonstrate commitment to teammates and customers by delivering unsurpassed service and premium value.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Five or more years of UX design experience with a focus on consumer-facing mobile apps and web applications, with a portfolio demonstrating impactful work.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to present to executive leadership and articulate the strategy and execution of various designs.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Figma (or similar tools like Sketch or Adobe XD) and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with design systems and user testing tools.
- Collaboration: Skilled at working with cross-functional teams and communicating design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities; able to balance creativity with meeting user and business needs.
- Problem-Solving & Detail-Oriented: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; committed to creating inclusive, seamless experiences.
- Time Management: Proven experience with prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines effectively.
- Mentoring: Experience mentoring or guiding other designers.
- Experience in Supply Chain Industries is highly preferred.
- Agile Experience: Familiarity with agile development environments preferred.
- Front-End Knowledge: Understanding of front-end development technologies (iOS, Android, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) preferred.
- Accessibility: Knowledge of ADA accessibility standards and guidelines preferred.
