Role: Investigative Storyteller & Content Creator

Type: Full Time

Location: Required to be in office in Boulder, CO 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) with 1 Flex Day (Friday). Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required.

Start Date: Immediate

Compensation: $60-75k plus benefits


JOB DESCRIPTION 

Caruso Ventures is seeking a talented and driven Investigative Storyteller and Content Coordinator to join our expanding family office team based in Boulder, CO. The ideal candidate would be interested in business, tech, and local politics and have a passion for delivering content via social media while leveraging AI. 

The ideal candidate shares our commitment to honest journalism and is passionate about uncovering the truth, digging deep into complex issues and delivering impactful stories rooted in fact – in support of Dan Caruso enhancing his voice as an influencer particularly in the Colorado community. We are dedicated to upholding journalistic integrity and uncovering stories that matter. The ideal candidate is able to translate their journalism work into captivating social media campaigns. 

Caruso Ventures, LLC is a growing, entrepreneurial organization operating as a single-family office. We invest across multiple asset classes, including but not limited to venture capital and private equity.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Investigative Journalism: 

  • Conduct detailed investigations into a variety of topics, including the development of Colorado’s tech and entrepreneurial ecosystem, local community issues, research associated with Caruso Ventures portfolio companies, promotion associated with The Bear Roars podcast, and future iterations of Dan Caruso’s book Bandwidth, and more
  • Utilize various research methods, including AI, interviews, public records requests, data analysis and investigative tools to uncover valuable information and insights
  • Be aware of developments in the Boulder community and beyond, identifying stories that resonate with our audience and contribute to the public discourse, in close coordination with and support of Dan
  • Present complex findings in a clear, balanced and accessible manner, allowing our readers to make informed decisions


Content Production & Social Media:

  • Collaborate with the team to plan, produce, and edit high-quality podcast episodes and other multimedia content
  • Create platform-specific social media content, manage editorial calendar, and test new features that drive engagement. This encompasses everything from Substack channel, newsletters, podcasts, X, and Instagram reels to long-form LinkedIn posts
  • Stay up-to-date on tools, technologies, and trends in multimedia industry best practices. Explore and experiment with social media platforms
  • Develop and execute effective social media campaigns to enhance audience engagement, expand reach, and drive traffic


PERFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in journalism with a portfolio of published work 
  • Excellent research, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Experience with the GSuite (Google Sheets, Google Slides, Gmail, GDrive, etc) and Notion strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with the Boulder community and local issues is a plus
  • Interest in business, tech, and politics
