Job Description
Summary
Responsible for assisting in the implementation of tourism programs and strategies, with a focus on public relations amongst all school districts throughout Carbon, Monroe, Wayne, and Pike counties. Responsible for providing proactive and strategic planning in the development of tourism programs and brand awareness throughout all school districts in the Pocono region. This multi-faceted individual will work to build collaborative relationships with local school district officials, teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders to create awareness and solutions to gainful employment in the tourism industry.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities

- Working with key internal and external stakeholders, private and government partners, members, and other key voices this team member will communicate PMVB’s mission, strategies, and results to educators to ensure an appreciation and understanding of the role tourism plays in contributing to the economy.
- Build an understanding and appreciation of tourism, the visitor economy and of Tourism through proactive media relations and other means of raising organizational profile.
- Responsible for upholding the credibility and accountability of the organization and ensuring the PMVB is positioned as experts in the industry.
- Maintain a well-informed working knowledge of the attractions and services available in the area to educators and act as a liaison between these entities and students.
- Performs ongoing community outreach by attending school board meetings, educational committee meetings, classroom visits and community events.
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all attractions, hotels and community partners.
- Represents the County in tourist related matters at the local, state and national levels.
- Acts as spokesperson involving all aspects of tourism on behalf of the PMVB with local school districts; answers questions and provides information as requested.

- Ability to coordinate and effectively administer activities involving a wide range of interested parties.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the Tourist Development Council and Tourism stakeholders.
- Ability to make effective presentations to large groups.
- Ability to act as spokesperson for the PMVB.
- Ability to be detail-oriented in a multi-tasking production environment.
- Ability to recommend and develop associated budgets on-time and on-specification.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written (AP Style), verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and community relations skills, with a collaborative style able to work with different teams throughout an organization.
- Experience with issues management and/or crisis response a plus.
- Experience with tourism, travel, development, investments and Groups and Meetings a plus.

Education and Experience
- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, Tourism/ Hospitality Management, Business Communications, Media Relations or related field and four (4) years professional marketing or tourist development work experience including or supplemented by some supervisory experience.
- Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
