Job Summary

Abrams ComicArts is seeking a Marketing & Publicity Assistant to provide key administrative and creative support to our dynamic marketing and publicity team. This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic candidate with a passion for comics, graphic novels, and book publishing. The role requires strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage the social media calendar developed by the marketing team.
  • Handle daily community engagement on social media, responding to comments and interacting with followers.
  • Coordinate publicity mailings, including filling out request forms and sending review copies and promotional materials to media, bookstores, and authors.
  • Gather and upload PDFs to NetGalley, Edelweiss, and GalleyTracker for review distribution.
  • Pull and format images from books for publicity and marketing purposes.
  • Add and collate information in the publicity tracking grid developed by the marketing team.
  • Assist in executing marketing and publicity campaigns for Abrams ComicArts titles, including social media outreach and email marketing.
  • Using Adobe Acrobat, edit book factsheets for promotional purposes.
  • Help manage the Abrams ComicArts social media presence by scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and tracking performance metrics.
  • Assist in planning and executing author events, book festivals, and conventions.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile press clips for internal and external reporting.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks, including processing invoices, scheduling meetings, and preparing presentation materials.
  • Conduct industry research to identify new marketing and publicity opportunities.
  • Collaborate with authors, artists, booksellers, and media contacts to build brand awareness for Abrams ComicArts titles.

Qualifications

  • Passion for comics, graphic novels, and publishing is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, TikTok).
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or social media management platforms is a plus.
