Freelance Writer - Automotive Features

Steady freelance work that pays on time! SlashGear is looking for freelance automotive feature writers to join our team. We’re seeking candidates with a strong passion for the automotive industry, whether through hands-on experience, journalism, or deep personal knowledge. A background in engineering or mechanics, or experience working at an automaker, dealership, or supplier is preferred, but not required. Successful candidates will have at least three years of experience writing for print or digital publications, with a focus on topics such as road safety, ADAS technology, autonomous vehicles, classic and heritage cars, or engine mechanics. We are looking for creative individuals who are self-sufficient and versatile. These positions are work-from-home with flexible, stable hours. Location does not matter; U.S. and international candidates and encouraged to apply.

Feature Writer Responsibilities:
- Claim feature article topics from a selection of assignments
- Research, pitch, and write 2600- to 3000-word articles in a custom CMS with a one-week to one-day turnaround, depending on the topic and timeliness of the article
- Follow the guidelines of our style guide, editorial strategy, and publishing standards to uphold quality of content

Experience Required:
- A deep understanding of the automotive industry, and vehicle engineering and technology in general
- Minimum three years editorial experience writing and/or editing
- Experience with building content in a CMS
- Familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook
