Visit Springfield is looking for a visionary Vice President of Marketing (VPM) to help shape the future of our city’s tourism industry. At Visit Springfield, we don’t just market a city—we create experiences, shape perceptions, and tell the story of a destination that is a mosaic of hidden gems waiting to be discovered. This role will be pivotal in guiding innovative marketing strategies to drive awareness and amplify engagement. The VPM will oversee the marketing team, developing and executing innovative campaigns that attract visitors, elevate Springfield’s brand, and fuel its growth as a premier travel destination. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire a high-performing marketing team, setting a clear vision and developing strategies to achieve both short-term and long-term marketing goals. Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan that enhances the Visit Springfield brand, increases tourism, and supports community growth. Foster a collaborative and high-performance marketing team culture, empowering staff to achieve excellence in all aspects of their work. Oversee the Visit Springfield brand's development, implementation, and ongoing refinement to maintain consistency and relevance. Champion the brand's core messaging, ensuring alignment across all internal and external communications, campaigns, and media. Ensure the Visit Springfield brand is communicated effectively and remains differentiated in the competitive tourism market. Lead the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, traditional, and experiential platforms to maximize visitor engagement. Drive innovation in digital marketing, focusing on customer engagement, content creation, search engine optimization (SEO), paid media, and website performance. Use creative and innovative methods to reach new audiences and elevate Springfield's status as a sought-after travel destination. Serve as a key liaison between Visit Springfield and the community, building strong relationships with local businesses, government leaders, and tourism stakeholders. Collaborate with the Missouri Department of Tourism and regional partners to develop joint marketing initiatives that promote Springfield as a top-tier destination. Ensure the marketing strategy reflects the interests of Springfield's residents and enhances the community’s sense of pride and connection. Use data analytics and customer insights to continually optimize marketing campaigns and measure ROI. Provide regular reports and updates on marketing performance to the CEO and Board of Directors. Use market research and competitor analysis to drive decision-making and maintain a competitive edge. Oversee day-to-day marketing operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging team members to push creative boundaries while maintaining high-quality execution. Manage the marketing department's budget effectively, ensuring the optimal allocation of resources for maximum impact. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field; Master’s degree preferred. 7+ years of marketing experience, preferably within the tourism or destination marketing industry. Proven track record of successful brand development, integrated marketing campaigns, and community engagement. Strong understanding of digital marketing trends, tools, and analytics. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day marketing operations with an eye for detail and excellence.
