The Visiting Artists of Color (VAC) Residency is for a visiting artist who identifies as (or whose work connects with) Black, Indigenous, and/or person of color (BIPOC) with the goal to increase the visibility and provide resources to support historically marginalized artists.
Details
The VAC Residency is a 7-month long residency for a visiting artist who identifies as BIPOC and/or who is committed to working with local BIPOC community members. Each residency is tailored to the selected artist’s expertise and discipline. The residency offers the artist access to a 900 sq ft dedicated studio space at ASLD; the opportunity to lead workshops, lectures, and community engagement programs; and culminates in a solo exhibition at ASLD’s gallery, attended by over 1,500 individuals. The residency provides both a monthly artist fee and a housing stipend in addition to dedicated studio space and studio materials. The budget for housing costs and living expenses is determined based on Denver market rates at the time of the residency.
