Zendesk is seeking a strategic communications leader to drive our US Public Relations efforts at a senior level. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive PR strategy that builds and nurtures strong relationships with influential media outlets. Your focus will be on amplifying Zendesk’s leadership in AI-powered service and enhancing both customer and employee experiences. You will engage the media as advocates who shape public perception, showcasing Zendesk’s thought leadership through impactful storytelling, executive visibility, and strategic content across multiple channels. This position offers the opportunity to influence the overall direction of our PR initiatives.

What you’ll do

  1. Design and lead Zendesk’s PR strategy in the US, ensuring consistent recognition as a leader in AI-powered service and in enhancing customer and employee experiences.
  2. Develop a multi-faceted PR strategy that utilizes emerging media channels, including podcasts, Substack newsletters, and social media platforms, to engage diverse audiences and enhance Zendesk's visibility and thought leadership.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with top US journalists and media outlets, crafting stories that showcase Zendesk’s vision and innovation.
  4. Develop and manage a speaker program for Zendesk’s leaders, securing high-profile opportunities for them to share insights at industry events and with key media.
  5. Plan and lead responses to high-stakes situations, protecting Zendesk’s reputation and ensuring clear, consistent messaging during critical moments.
  6. Align with global and regional communications teams to maintain messaging consistency while tailoring US PR efforts to local market dynamics.
  7. Team up with senior executives to craft compelling narratives that appeal to C-suite decision-makers and key media influencers.
  8. Collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, and Sales teams to connect PR initiatives to business goals, demonstrating the impact of Zendesk’s work on customers and employees.
  9. Contribute to the growth and effectiveness of the PR team by providing guidance, sharing expertise, and fostering collaboration across functions.
  10. Track, analyze, and report on PR results, using insights to refine strategies, amplify Zendesk’s impact, and drive continuous improvement in storytelling.

What you’ll bring

  1. At least 10 years of experience in Public Relations, with proven success in designing and delivering impactful PR strategies for the US market.
  2. Strong relationships with US media and a track record of securing meaningful, high-value coverage.
  3. Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and elevate Zendesk’s brand.
  4. Experience working closely with senior executives to shape their messaging and increase their visibility with key stakeholders.
  5. A collaborative mindset and experience partnering with cross-functional teams like Product, Marketing, and Sales to create cohesive, business-focused PR campaigns.
  6. Confidence in handling crises and high-pressure situations, with the ability to protect and enhance Zendesk’s reputation.
  7. An analytical mindset, using data and insights to measure PR success and optimize strategies.

The US annualized base salary range for this position is $165,000.00-$247,000.00. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives.
