Description:

The C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston is seeking a talented and creative Photographer to join its dynamic Office of Communications team. This position is integral to supporting the college’s internal and external communications, marketing, advertising, social media, public relations, and creative services. The ideal candidate is a skilled visual storyteller with a passion for capturing moments that showcase the energy, innovation, and excellence of Bauer College students, faculty, staff, alumni, partners, and programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Photography: Capture high-quality images for use across print, digital, and social media platforms, including promotional materials, print and digital ads, the biannual college magazine, the college website, email communications, and other collateral.
  2. Art Direction: Develop creative concepts for photography projects while adhering to the visual brand identity of the college. Collaborate with team leadership to execute their artistic vision and creative direction.
  3. Event Coverage: Document key college events, such as conferences, student activities, and faculty presentations, through creative and compelling photography.
  4. Visual Storytelling: Collaborate with marketing, social media, and public relations staff to develop visual narratives that align with the college's branding and messaging strategies.
  5. Photo Editing: Retouch and edit images using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and other tools to ensure visual consistency and quality.
  6. Archive Management: Organize and maintain a comprehensive photo archive for easy access and future use.
  7. Multimedia Assistance: Support videography and graphic design projects as needed, contributing to multimedia content creation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires the ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies, and practices attainable through specific education and/or training programs in a specialty or technical field. An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration are characteristic of this field. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Preferences:

  • Proven experience as a photographer with a strong portfolio showcasing versatility in both posed and candid photography.
  • Expertise in using professional DSLR cameras, lighting, and related equipment.
  • Proficiency in photo editing software (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong understanding of branding, composition, and visual storytelling principles.
  • Ability to follow and interpret art direction while contributing original creative ideas.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Experience in higher education or corporate photography.
  • Knowledge of video production and editing.
  • Familiarity with content creation for social media platforms.
