Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Community Manager is to enhance engagement and significantly increase brand visibility. The individual in this role will connect with IEEE's audience across various platforms and create innovative strategies that align with Spectrum's goals for long-term growth. The incumbent will be an experienced engineer with a strong interest in IEEE's industry sectors and a proven track record of successfully expanding the digital presence of established brands. This position also requires strategic thinking and the ability to effectively utilize digital tools and platforms to build, engage, and nurture online communications. Lastly, the role demands proficiency in developing and executing engagement strategies that yield measurable impact. This role will be an individual contributor and has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Digital community and presence strategy (50%)
- Assist in the development and execution of strategies that expand audience growth on external platforms and augment referral traffic to our website.
- Be the voice of Spectrum on social platforms by responding to comments, where appropriate, in order to foster a positive community, add value to the user’s experience, and drive engagement.
- Align with Spectrum’s tone and voice in crafting social copy that ranges from technical to general.
- Assist with the creation, conception, and presentation of digital marketing strategies.
- Drive continuous, observable results in Spectrum’s overall web and social presence.
- Provide digital presence metrics and analytics that help direct and inform content and campaign performance.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and developments in digital tools and technologies.
- Management and Moderation (40%)
- Expand Spectrum’s already robust web presence across platforms (social, newsletters, syndication) with the goal of augmenting brand visibility.
- Develop and implement strategies for audience growth on new platforms, delivering measurable results.
- Perform day-to-day management of social media, syndication, and other digital presence.
- Develop digital marketing strategies across channels, presenting creative ideas and solutions.
- Assist in the creation and management of social ad campaigns.
- Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for optimizing social media campaigns.
- Assist in the maintenance of a content calendar.
- Listening and reporting (10%)
- Monitor effective benchmarks (best practices) for measuring the impact of social media campaigns. Analyze, review, and report on the effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.
- Coordinate comprehensive digital marketing reporting, including visual recaps of promotions and campaigns.
Qualifications
Education- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferably in engineering, marketing, or communications.
- 4-7 years developing and managing high-traffic digital/online communities and websites.
- Engineering background or keen interest in topics related to Spectrum’s core verticals.
- Demonstrable experience with social media, including value innovative work that shows leadership.
- Demonstrable experience in content development and management.
- An understanding of the relevance of humor in a brand’s persona.
- Demonstrable experience developing and implementing effective digital strategies and driving results.
- Experience working with a diverse, global community focused on technology.
- Deep understanding and enthusiasm for social platforms including LinkedIn, Reddit, Threads, and Pinterest.
- Enthusiasm for initiating and engaging in online conversation.
- Understanding of search engine optimization.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Experience managing and directing vendors.
- Social video editing skills and experience a plus.
