Part-Time Library Technician
Position: Part-Time Library Technician
Reports to: Head Librarian
Terms: Part-Time, 9-Month Position
Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Starting Date: TBD
Overall Job Responsibilities: As noted below. Will primarily work late afternoon/evening hours Monday through Thursday, possibly filling-in some daytime hours if needed.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Circulate and discharge library media using an automated circulation system.
- Assist patrons with copy machine and public computers.
- Shelve, shelf-read, and dust print and non-print media.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Computer competence.
- Ability to alphabetize and learn Library of Congress classification system.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must have written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualities and Characteristics:
- Willingness to learn new skills and to share information with others.
- Public relations, organizational skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be service-oriented, promote excellence, and embrace a commitment to professionalism.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from various backgrounds.
