American Heart Association Operations Manager, Scientific Publishing

The Operations Manager works closely with the Vice President of Scientific Publishing as well as the 2 Senior Directors of Journal Operations on all Scientific Publishing Awards processes; and coordinates closely with managing editors, the Vice President, and the Senior Directors on all marketing and logistic activities to support both the Association scientific journals and the Association scientific statements and clinical practice guidelines as published by the Association scientific journals.

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee shipment of Scientific Publishing and scientific journals’ collateral to all Association conferences and non-Association conferences where the Association will have an exhibit booth.
  2. Coordinate with the publisher for artwork for all support of activities and coordination of booth presence.
  3. Assist with the Association editor searches and renewals.
  4. Work with the publisher to create collateral and review all journal collateral (digital and physical) for adherence to Association branding guidelines.
  5. Manage all electronic and social media presences of the scientific journals and develop appropriate campaigns.
  6. Manage all scientific journals’ awards, ensuring documentation is maintained.
  7. Oversee the editorial goals process and obtain operational and metric reports a minimum of 2 times per year.
  8. Other duties as assigned to support the scientific journals and scientific statements/clinical practice guidelines programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Three (3) years of the following experience:

  1. Strong, and proven project management skills.
  2. Excellent written and oral communication.
  3. Excellent attention to detail and taking responsibility for projects and actions.
  4. Appreciation for the creative content, understanding how the scientific journals, the scientific statements, and clinical practice guidelines connect to bigger publishing and Association goals.

Preferred Qualification:

  • One (1) year of experience with social media, marketing efforts, and branding requirements.

Compensation

Expected pay range will be $75,000 to $80,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
