Court Reporter Job at Gwinnett County in Lawrenceville

Job Description

This Court Reporter will be responsible for attending hearings or Court sessions and reporting verbatim testimony (via recording devices and/or shorthand) of non/jury (pleas, motions, rules, etc.), and civil/criminal proceedings as assigned.

Essential Duties

• Preparing verbatim transcripts of hearings and trials as provided by law and as requested by Judges, DAs, Solicitors, and attorneys.
• Maintaining year-to-date records of said proceedings.
• Processing billing notices for transcriptions.
• Furnishing copies of transcribed testimonies to attorneys and other interested parties.
• Performing other clerical tasks necessary for completion of Court functions as assigned.

Public Speaking Duties

• At the discretion of the Judges.

Grade
The grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on experience and certification level.

Hiring Salary Range:

• Certified Court Reporter - $74,189
• Certified Court Reporter with Georgia Realtime License - $76,747
• Certified Court Reporter with National Realtime License - $86,980

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in legal studies, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
• One year of experience performing stenographical duties, taking and transcribing verbatim information in a legal environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years of experience performing stenographical duties, taking and transcribing verbatim information in a legal environment.
• Real-time Certification.
• Georgia or National certified court reporting license.
