Job Description
This Court Reporter will be responsible for attending hearings or Court sessions and reporting verbatim testimony (via recording devices and/or shorthand) of non/jury (pleas, motions, rules, etc.), and civil/criminal proceedings as assigned.
Essential Duties
- Preparing verbatim transcripts of hearings and trials as provided by law and as requested by Judges, DAs, Solicitors, and attorneys.
- Maintaining year-to-date records of said proceedings.
- Processing billing notices for transcriptions.
- Furnishing copies of transcribed testimonies to attorneys and other interested parties.
- Performing other clerical tasks necessary for completion of Court functions as assigned.
Public Speaking Duties
- At the discretion of the Judges.
Grade
The grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on experience and certification level.
Hiring Salary Range:
- Certified Court Reporter - $74,189
- Certified Court Reporter with Georgia Realtime License - $76,747
- Certified Court Reporter with National Realtime License - $86,980
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in legal studies, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- One year of experience performing stenographical duties, taking and transcribing verbatim information in a legal environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience performing stenographical duties, taking and transcribing verbatim information in a legal environment.
- Real-time Certification.
- Georgia or National certified court reporting license.
