The Fire TV Channels team helps customers discover and engage with content they love. We operate at Amazon scale, designing and deploying software that is enjoyed by over 40MM active users globally. We solve significant customer problems in the consumer electronics space through devices, mobile applications, large language model, and machine learning.

Key Job Responsibilities

As the engineering team leader, you’ll work closely with engineering staff and a team of experts to design and execute your team’s feature roadmap. You will have direct input into requirement definition, and will work closely with our customers, developers and product managers to define, develop and deliver new products and features. The ideal candidate is equally obsessed with delivering the best possible customer experiences and leading and building strong teams. They define software architecture, communicating effectively with engineers, partners, leaders and a broad set of stakeholders. This leader can think long-term, advocate for strong engineering excellence, and bring in their own software development best practices as well as follow best practices from the broader development community in Amazon.

The ideal candidate has a passion for TV and video entertainment and/or advertising combined with an established track record delivering break-out consumer software experiences.

A Day in the Life

Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems are a must have. This person has thrived and succeeded in fast paced environment where learning new concepts quickly is a must. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly not only about building good software but about making that software achieve its goals in operational reality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  2. 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  3. 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  4. 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  5. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  6. Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  2. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
