About the Role

We are looking for a Senior UI/UX Engineer who will drive the design and development of user-friendly interfaces for our advanced monitoring and analytics software products. This role requires a strong blend of user-centered design expertise, front-end engineering skills, and an understanding of complex data visualizations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Product Management, Software Engineering, and Field Services—to deliver intuitive, high-quality solutions that empower customers to optimize their electrical utility operations.

Key Responsibilities

User Research & Analysis

  • Conduct user research and usability testing with global utility customers and stakeholders.
  • Translate findings into data-driven design decisions that address real-world user challenges.

Design & Prototyping

  • Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes showcasing data visualization and control interfaces.
  • Ensure designs align with Qualitrol’s brand guidelines and accessibility standards.

Front-End Development (C# / .NET)

  • Implement clean, responsive, and performant user interfaces using C# in frameworks such as WPF, WinUI, Blazor, or ASP.NET MVC (depending on product requirements).
  • Collaborate with back-end teams to integrate live data streams and analytics into seamless, real-time user experiences.
  • Maintain and optimize existing front-end codebases, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.

UX Strategy & Implementation

  • Define end-to-end user journeys for multiple software solutions, including asset monitoring dashboards and condition-based maintenance tools.
  • Advocate for a user-centric approach, ensuring design best practices are embedded in our product development lifecycle.

Data Visualization & Complex Workflows

  • Develop sophisticated data visualization components (charts, graphs, maps) that simplify complex sensor and analytics data.
  • Design intuitive workflows for alarm management, reporting, and predictive maintenance scenarios.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with Product Managers to refine requirements and project scopes.
  • Communicate design concepts and rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work with QA to ensure UI/UX consistency and quality across devices and platforms.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging tools, and best practices in UI/UX—particularly for IoT, industrial, or data-driven applications.
  • Provide mentorship to junior designers and front-end developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience

  • 5+ years in UI/UX design and front-end development, preferably with experience in industrial or data-intensive products.
  • Strong experience with C#/.NET technologies (e.g., WPF, WinForms, Blazor, or ASP.NET).
  • Bonus if you’ve worked on data-intensive or industrial software products.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Familiarity with responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimization.
  • Bonus: Experience with data visualization libraries, such as D3.js or others that can integrate with .NET solutions.

UX Skills

  • Strong foundation in user research, persona creation, and usability testing.
  • Ability to produce low- and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive design.

Domain Experience

(Preferred but not required):

  • Understanding of monitoring, IoT, or industrial software environments.
  • Exposure to real-time data analytics, SCADA systems, or asset management solutions.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience is a plus.
