Amazon North America Stores (NAS) Design organization is seeking our next UX Designer. Our team is dedicated to being the beacon of design excellence within the highly visual, emotive, and impassioned space where shopping and cutting-edge technology meet. We need your experience, optimism, and energy to build simple, fluid, and beautiful experiences that accommodate Amazon’s growing and diverse product selection (e.g. household basics, beauty, fashion, home and lifestyle, pets, automotive, electronics, and more), and give customers everything they need to make confident buying decisions while delighting them along the way. A UX Designer role on our team offers the opportunity to lead the design of innovative retail and platform shopping experiences across multiple big, exciting and diverse programs worldwide.

You would be perfect for this role if:

  1. You have a portfolio of launched work demonstrating measurable impact of your design and a strong understanding of user-centered design principles.
  2. You thrive on discovering big and small ways to make improvements to the customer experience.
  3. You are fluent in performing UX heuristic and information architecture evaluations, secondary research, and user testing.
  4. You have excellent in-person and remote communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills – including the ability to communicate design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and disciplines.
  5. You work well in multi-disciplinary environments where everyone has a seat at the table and equal responsibility for customer outcomes.
  6. You are a self-starter who is comfortable wearing many hats and can confidently navigate ambiguity.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Work iteratively and collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team (product owners, developers, researchers), using lean and agile methodologies to explore, test, and implement designs.
  2. Propose ideas and build new features that give customers the confidence to purchase products and services from Amazon.
  3. Create sketches, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high fidelity mockups as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed experiences.
  4. Responsibly and effectively advocate for the customer, fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and marketing values.
  5. Optimize the effectiveness of new and existing features by proactively planning, performing, and advocating validation techniques like usability testing, user research, and interpreting analytic data.
  6. Present design work for review and feedback to UX peers, product, & engineering teams. Contribute to a thriving design culture.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Have an online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices.
  2. Knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
  3. Knowledge of best practices for information architecture and design.
  4. Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similar.
  5. Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps.
  6. Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 5+ years of user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar design-related role experience.
